GLADD – The Association of LGBTQ+ Doctors and Dentists, is running a Student Prize inviting all Medical and Dental students to submit a piece of writing in any arts and humanities format on the theme of ‘Intersecting Identities’.
This competition provides entrants with a unique opportunity to explore an area of healthcare that is often neglected in undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, while showcasing their creative skills.
Each year, GLADD collaborates with a prestigious panel of guest judges from across healthcare and the arts; previous judges have included Adam Kay and Jacqueline Wilson. The 2025 judges will be announced soon.
All entrants will receive a free 1-year GLADD membership and a signed certificate. There are also cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Further details on the prize can be found here.
Entries can be of any length within reason. We suggest a limit of 2000 words, but recognise that this may not be suitable for all forms of entries. If a chosen format necessitates a higher word count, students may email students@gladd.co.uk for advice.
The deadline for submissions is 14th November 2025 at 12:00pm.
