The RCPE Trainees and Members’ Committee has organised an evening meeting aimed specifically at medical graduates who will be starting their first hospital job in August. Our ‘Top Tips for New Doctors’ Evening Medical Update is designed to provide delegates with tips and advice for their first year as a new doctor.

The Update is taking place on Tuesday 25 July 2023 andwill be available to view live online from home or live from a participating live-link site. This event is free to attend and features four speakers with a personal knowledge of this important milestone in becoming a doctor. The programme for the evening is:

Discussing ward rounds, on calls, and handover

18:45 – Mastering the curriculum

Discussing the portfolio, prescribing requirements, and core competency sign-offs

19:00 – The jobs of a new doctor

Prioritising ward round jobs, assessing patients, and escalating to seniors

19:15 – Who do I turn to for help?

Discussing pastoral support, differences in insurance (do you really need it), clinical and education supervisor roles, and how can the College help me?

19:30 – Q&A with all speakers

19:50 – Close
