AHSC Webinar: Understanding radiation exposure & improving patient radiotherapy outcomes

Radiotherapy is a treatment where radiation is used to kill cancer cells. 27% of cancer patients have radiotherapy to try to cure cancer completely or to relieve symptoms if a cure is not possible. Current radiotherapy techniques mean less healthy tissue receives radiation, resulting in fewer side effects. Research is ongoing to investigate ways to make radiotherapy even more precise. Professor Amy Berrington, Team Leader in Clinical Cancer Epidemiology. at The Institute of Cancer Research, will present her research on epidemiological approaches to understanding the effect of radiation exposure from radiotherapy. Professor Nicholas van As is Medical Director and Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and Reader at The Institute of Cancer Research. He will discuss his work on new developments in radiotherapy treatment. In this seminar, two leading experts will discuss their research and answer your questions.
