Previous participants have mostly been worried about the big health problems in the world, wanting to have more impact on helping to solve these problems, but unsure of their next steps to plan such a career. And that’s where we can help.
The course is provided by High Impact Medicine (Hi-Med), a non-profit organization for whom I serve as Executive Director (having previously worked as an academic paediatric gastroenterologist at the University of Toronto, Canada). Our mission is to guide a global community of doctors and medical students to do more good through high-impact careers and giving, and thus to improve global health and reduce biosecurity risks.
In this virtual Career Planning Course (CPC), participants join a small group of 5-6 like-minded medics with a facilitator each week for 6 weeks to jointly work through how they might achieve a career direction that matches their values and desire for impact (e.g. through work in research, public health, public policy, pandemic preparedness, or with NGOs, etc). The course has received excellent feedback from previous cohorts, including many participants in the UK.
