We are delighted to announce thatapplications for 2021-22 scholarships with The Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) will open 1st March 2021 and close Wednesday 31st March 2021 at midday (12 noon) GMT.
The HLA aims to nurture leadership, foster frontline innovation and to empower the next generation of clinical leaders. Our internationally recognised and innovative scholarship programme welcomes healthcare professionals and students and gives them the tools and a community of support to help maximise their potential as healthcare leaders.
Over the 12-month programme scholars will be involved in developing and delivering a project, alongside mentoring and learning opportunities. This is a fantastic opportunity for healthcare professionals to both develop themselves as professionals and healthcare leaders, but to also use the HLA as a platform to take their ideas forward and change the future of healthcare.
There will be cohorts with physical sessions based in London, Newcastle, Bristol, Edinburgh, Belfast and Amsterdam, as well as three virtual cohorts (which will enable applicants to be able to participate from anywhere in the world). Applicants are welcome and expected to apply from across the globe this year.
In 2021-2022 we have 100 funded scholarships available (worth £3000 each) with the programme fees covered. These scholarships are available via competitive entry through this application round. HLA programmes are accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management and UCLan Medical School and delivered with a number of partnership organisations, including the Council of Deans of Health and Health Education England.

Felyx Wong, medical student & HLA scholar (2020-21) said:
“The HLA community is a great platform for personal development… I personally believe that the benefits of developing these ‘soft’ skills early on in your career as a medical student can accrue significantly overtime and reward you massively over the long term. This scholarship programme is a great place to start and I would urge every medical student who is interested in personal development to apply.”
Many previous scholars have been medical students at various stages of training and have gained an enormous amount during the programme.
