Research Project: Reflecting on Reflection

Reflecting on Reflection:

I am an Internal Medicine Trainee currently based between Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals. I am undertaking a research project looking at the use of reflection within the undergraduate medical course.

As I am sure you are aware, reflection is a key part of professional and personal development and forms part of all postgraduate appraisal and revalidation. As such, developing sound reflective skills is essential for any medical student. Through this project I hope to gain a better understanding of the way we use reflection within the medical course with the hope that this insight highlights how we can improve the approaches we use to help students develop better reflective skills.

I am recruiting medical students in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 to participate in this project. Participants will be asked to partake in a 30-60 minute one-on-one interview via video call on Microsoft teams. During the interview we will discuss your experiences of reflection and your opinions of these experiences.

If you are interested in participating in this project then please email me at to express your interest and I will send further information on participation in the study and will be happy to answer any questions or queries you may have.

All participants will receive a letter of participation to show their engagement and contribution to the project.
