ICSMSU Newsletter

Union Update

The last couple of weeks have seen a surge of activity for our clubs & societies, and the next couple of weeks promise to be equally busy, if not busier! To accommodate this, we will be having another issue of the newsletter next Monday 10th as the final newsletter of 2012.

We had a record turnout at the ICSM RAG Christmas Collect so a huge well done and thank you to everyone that braved the freezing cold to raise money for RAG!

I’m really pleased to say that the 1st Gazette of 2012-13 (Winter issue) is out now, and is available to read here.

And finally, very best of luck to all our final years who are sitting the Situational Judgement Test this Friday!

Calling all Year 1 Students – Help with evaluation of Singapore curriculum and earn a £5 Amazon Gift Card and a chance to win an iPad!

Imperial College London is working with Nanyang Technological University to open a new joint medical school in Singapore: the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

The course in Singapore will have a different curriculum to the MBBS at Imperial and will be taught in a different way. We would like to evaluate the new curriculum with Year 1 students at Imperial to ensure LKCMedicine students receive the same standard of teaching.

If you decide to take part you will have to:

* Review up to 3 hours of new course material in your own private study time
* Take a 30-minute test on Wednesday, 12th December 2012 (after the PMSA session)
* You are under no obligation to take part. Your results will be anonymous and will not affect your MBBS degree in any way.

Lunch will be provided and participating students will receive a £5 amazon gift card as well as the chance to win an iPad in our prize draw.

Year 3 iPad project!

Do you have an iPAD? If so, would you be interested in being part of an evaluation project on iPADs for clinical learning?

The project is running in January-February 2013. Some Apps will be signposted at the beginning of term. Towards the end of term, participants will be asked to do a questionnaire and a one-off focus group to evaluate views on iPADs for clinical learning.

Participants will receive £20 Amazon voucher as thanks for your time.
If interested, please contact Dr. Aaron Vallance (Clinical Senior Lecturer) on a.vallance@imperial.ac.uk by 14th December 2012.
