This year RAG is affiliated with two charities. If you’d like to make a donation to either, please visit their respective JustGiving pages.
Meningitis Now is the only UK charity dedicated to saving lives and rebuilding the futures of all of those affected by the disease in the UK. They work towards this aim by funding research into vaccines, raising awareness of the disease and providing direct support to families. They are a powerful and united voice for all those affected by this killer disease. First year university students are at high risk of contracting meningitis and the charity has made huge strides in developing vaccines but the battle is far from over.
Community Action Nepal (CAN) works in partnership with mountain villages and communities to provide local health, education, income generation, cultural and mountain porter welfare facilities in the Kathmandu region. CAN projects are grass roots driven – with ideas coming directly from and supported by communities. Since 1998 CAN has established more than 50 community projects bringing benefits to 250,000 people. They currently operate nine Health Posts, eight schools and three mountain porter rescue shelters. Since the 2015 earthquake, CAN launched an appeal that has so far raised more than £1 million in attempts to rebuild lives and futures.
