BDIAP Grants to Support Student BScs in Histopathology

Posted on by

The BDIAP offers up to five grants per year to support undergraduates undertaking a BSc, or equivalent, in Pathology as part of their undergraduate career. Such a BSc will normally be undertaken in departments of histopathology, cellular pathology or cytopathology in universities, medical schools, NHS laboratories or research institutes in the United Kingdom or overseas. Applications, including proposals for work on research projects in pathology, should be submitted by the end of May 2015 and will be considered by the education and IT subcommittee of the BDIAP. The grant will normally be for a maximum of £15,000 pounds sterling and is primarily to support living expenses and university fees during the year of study rather than bench fees.

At those medical schools where intercalation is mandatory (Imperial, Oxford, Cambridge and UCL), the BDIAP will offer two grants of £3,000 each.

Further information and an application form are available on the BDIAP website at

Food Bank Is Back! Easter Edition

Posted on by
Carrying on the success of the Christmas food bank last term, ICSMSU are organising an Easter Egg collection for local children.
Please donate Easter eggs  to the drop off point, which will be found in the Reynolds Foyer (by the entrance to the bar) for THIS WEEK ONLY!
Monday 16th (today) – Friday 23rd March
The eggs will go to children of residents in Hammersmith & Fulham who have been referred to us by their doctor, school, social worker, job centre etc as they are experiencing some kind of crisis (including debt, addiction, domestic violence, loss of benefits etc) and they have no money to buy food in the short term.
Once they have received a voucher they come to the foodbank, collect their food parcel, (which is nutritionally balanced) and get a hot drink and cake. Our volunteers then discuss their situation with them and we refer them to the relevant agency who can help them solve their underlying problem/s.
Happy Easter ICSM!
