Final Year Examination Survey

Dear Final Year Medical Students,

Firstly, congratulations on getting this far through the long ‘slog’ of medical school and apologies for adding a small burden to you when you are of course very busy. We are asking you to complete a very short survey about your experience, while at medical school, of learning how to perform intimate examinations, and your self assessed competence. Anecdotal evidence seems to show that medical students do not perform as many intimate examinations as they used to, and this is of course a concern. The survey is anonymous, and we would appreciate just 5 minutes of your time to complete it; We will then consider the results and what we might need to do differently in undergraduate courses.

ICAB AGM

Hi everyone,

It’s time for us to elect next year’s ICAB committee!! TheAGM will be held on Thursday 2nd May at 7pm in Glenister Room G1 (CX).
Whether you’ve been on a trip before, or are yet to go on one, you should know how worthwhile our trips and fundraising activities are. ICAB is a small and friendly society so we would encourage you to get involved in the running of ICAB next year!

The positions available are:

President – deal with the union, general admin, contact with OXAB, chair meetings, ensure that ICAB continues it’s good work!
Vice President – support president
Secretary – take minutes of meetings, manage mailing list and icab email, room bookings, website
Treasurer – bank account, budget, liaise with fundraising officer for events
Liaison Officers x2 – liaise with Katia / Romanian contact, organise application packs and training
Publicity – make ICAB infamous around Imperial, posters for events, manage the facebook group
Fundraising – cake sales, quiz, tube collect any other new ideas welcome
General Committee – support other committee members

RCA Project

I’m a postgraduate student from Royal College of Art and I would be grateful if anyone can participate in a workshop for doctors that I’m organising for my graduation project. I have developed a digital interface which is supposed to be supportive for voice training lessons. So, I ‘m planning to run a voice training workshop, using my interface, which aims to teach future doctors how to announce serious illnesses or the death of someone to his relatives. I offer £15 to each of the volunteers, it will be more like quick individual slots, so it won’t last for hours! If anyone is interested, I would be really happy to meet you anytime and explain briefly what we are going to do.

Interclub Netball

5th May, meet at Teddington at 10am.

Each club is allowed to enter an A and a B team, of around 10 players per team.
The deadline for submission of team entries (to lh408@ic.ac.uk) is 1st May at the latest!
Games will be 6 minutes each way, and there is a wooden spoon, plate and cup competition, so every team will play at least 3 games.

There is a BBQ lunch at 1pm and the Inter Year rugby will kick off at 2pm with the usual half-time food-fight entertainment.
The semis and finals will start again at 4pm with the prize-giving ceremony at half 5.
Whilst not on court, there will be off-court entertainment to keep everyone happy, including a cake sale, Pimm’s stall, tombola, swingball, beat-the-goalie, how-many-sweets-in-the-jar… So make sure you bring change on the day!

Looking forward to seeing you all there! Don’t forget to submit your teams by 1st May and to bring £5 and extra change on the day!
