Imperial Medicals RFC is a highly successful and thriving rugby club, with all standards of rugby being catered for – from purely social to elite. The unity and team spirit that exists amongst all of our players and supporters, together with the unique “medicals” rugby atmosphere gives all of our members an unparalleled experience, both on, and off the field. At Imperial Medicals we are very proud of our illustrious history. We have fielded a number of full internationals, produced a number of professional players and have recently had members represent England Students.

Being a university club we play fixtures on Wednesdays, and our first team are currently competing at the highest level in the BUCS South Eastern Division. On Saturdays we are an open club and we welcome anyone from any profession, or background to come and play for us and enjoy the atmosphere of the club.

Our main fixtures of the year are the UH Cup final and the JPR Williams Cup. The UH Challenge Cup is the oldest rugby competition in the world, predated only by the Calcutta cup. We have dominated this competition is recent years winning in 8 out of the past 10 years. We play Imperial in the JPR, and have lost this match only once since its inception more than 10 years ago.

As with any successful club the social life of IMRFC is a big part of what makes the club special; we thoroughly enjoy ourselves off the pitch. One of the highlights of the year is the annual Club Dinner held at exclusive venues such as The Inner Temple, Lords Cricket Ground and the RAC Club in Pall Mall. During this splendid evening we award our Cockburn and Ian Kenyon Scholarships to both new and old members.

We are a club that loves to tour. Every year we travel to another part of the UK for our Schools’ Tour, where we welcome our new members to the club. On arrival back in London the annual Inter-year match takes place at Teddington, where, amongst other things, we witness the 1st years take on the 2nd years in front of a large crowd. The half-time girls food fight is stuff of legend. We also have an annual tour to Cornwall which has been enjoyed for over 80 years, and is the oldest continuous tour in the world! Here we play 3 competitive matches against local sides whilst also enjoying the glorious South-West of England.

We have also stage 3 yearly international tours, with the most recent having been to Canada in 2011, where we won the Calgary 7s tournament, went unbeaten all tour, and enjoyed all that the west coast had to offer! Plans are already being made for an international tour in the summer of 2014.

Imperial Medicals RFC is looking forward to another immensely enjoyable and successful season in 2012-13; new members are very welcome, and will certainly not be disappointed.
